Phantom Creek

Phantom Creek Estates winery is located on a storied 60-acre vineyard on Black Sage Bench in the South Okanagan known for producing exceptional Bordeaux varietal grapes.

In collaboration with the architectural and engineering team, we have provided landscape architectural consulting services for this landmark project. A 300 metre-long pedestrian spine draws visitors from the treed parking court to an arrival plaza surrounded by a biodynamic demonstration garden, into a central courtyard between the tasting room and production wing, and finally to a restaurant terrace overlooking the winery. An amphitheatre on the south side of the tasting room provides spectacular views of the valley beyond. Custom details abound, one of which is a progression of stone inlays in the pedestrian axis, an abstraction the winery’s namesake, the Phantom Creek. The visual and ecological impact of the parking required for the building is minimized with permeable paving, bioswales, and 50% tree canopy coverage at maturity.
